It's that time of year again, Burnley Camera Club are in the midst of their big Annual Competition. Split over two club nights, one for colour and one for mono, the Annual covers all manner of themes... Natural History, Portraiture, Pictorial, Photojournalism, Record and an Open section for everything else, along with Burnley's own Calder Cup which has a local focus.
The Annual has a big part to play in deciding the Photographer of the Year, with this year's biggest prize being closer than it has been for a number of years!
The first week of the annual was run on 11th February and covered the colour section, and included the Calder Cup. Our judge for the night was the current L&CPU Vice President (and soon to be President) Keith Richardson, someone who is no stranger to BCC having judged a couple of our monthly competitions. The year's competitions came to a close with Annual Mono competition on 25th February, with our judge for the night being Adrian Henley.
Both nights had a packed room, lots of photos, some great comments and critiques, and one or two (or more) laughs were had. The top 4 for each category were selected along with the 'Best in Competition' image... all of which can be found on the 2024/25 competition page.
The overall 'Photographer of the Year' is set to be announced at the Burnley Camera Club Awards Evening on the 18th of March.
